What is daily living support under the NDIS?

Daily living support is help with the everyday things that keep life running: getting ready in the morning, preparing meals, keeping the house in order and sticking to health routines. It’s one of the most common supports in NDIS plans.

What can daily living support include?

  • Personal care, such as showering, dressing and grooming
  • Planning, shopping for and cooking meals
  • Cleaning, laundry and household tasks
  • Medication prompts and following health plans
  • Getting to appointments and running errands
  • Building skills so you can do more yourself over time

How is it funded?

Daily living support usually comes from the Core supports: Assistance with daily life part of your NDIS plan. Core funding is often flexible, so you may be able to use it across different everyday supports. Your plan, or your support coordinator, can tell you what’s available.

Doing it with you, not for you

Good daily living support isn’t just about getting jobs done. It’s about building your confidence and independence. A support worker might cook alongside you, break tasks into small steps, or set up routines that work for you.

How much support can I get?

It depends on your needs and your plan. Some people have a few hours a week; others have support every day, including overnight.
